Jazz Up Your Baking

I have been experimenting with new recipes rather than just repeating the go-to’s we all have and also finding those recipes that are easiest to make with the ingredients I am most likely to already have in my kitchen pantry.

Passion and occupation are not always mutually exclusive. In fact, while it is the ideal model we would all like to follow, you should consider yourself lucky if this is something you can claim for yourself. This does not mean that you can’t genuinely enjoy what you do for a living. Being forced to stay home and find alternative ways to keep busy on the daily, this Lockdown has given me the opportunity to introspect a little and be a bit more proactive when it comes to my passion, or rather, passions. My day job: I am a bookings agent for a local company that operates in the photographic and film industry. My passion: I love being creative photographically but also in the kitchen. As in baking rather than cooking. With all this time we have been given, not everyone has an easy time keeping themselves busy. Baking has not only given me an outlet for boredom and the need to keep active but it is also deliciously rewarding and I have something beautiful to practice my food photography on. Of course, all this baking and staying indoors means I need to also practice some self-control in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
I will be sharing some of these with my own photographs of the finished goodies below. How better to make use of this time to tap into your inner pastry chef than to whip up some sweetness in the kitchen. And isn’t it even better to practise those skills you can wow your friends and family with when we finally get out of this quarantine?!
